Science, imagination and anticipation: the role of sensemaking in the face of artificial intelligence

On February 13, 2026, from 6 p.m., the Turgot amphitheater will host a talk devoted to the links between science, imagination, and anticipation in the age of artificial intelligence. Professor Raquel Janissek-Muniz, a specialist in information systems at the Federal University of Porto Alegre in Brazil, will deliver a presentation entitled “Science, imagination and anticipation: the role of sensemaking in the face of artificial intelligence,” followed by a discussion with students.

This presentation explores the role of sensemaking in understanding, interpreting, and guiding contemporary technological transformations, and opens a broader reflection on how we make sense of innovations that are already reshaping our practices and representations.
