Sorbonne School of Management Newsletter — April 15 to May 15

In this newsletter: a look back at the highlights of early April and a preview of upcoming events through the end of the month. At the end, you'll find important information on gap year applications for students and program coordinators.

Are you organizing a conference, a study trip, or any other event? Have you recently published a book or article related to your management research? Is there an internal update you’d like to share with faculty, staff, or students?
Send your information to the EM-S Communications Office at com-ems@univ-paris1.fr so we can include it in the next edition!

In early April...

We witnessed the success of several great initiatives in our department, including the presentation and final of the Data Challenge on April 4, and the final of the ACMS Public Speaking Competition on Thursday, April 10.

Despite restricted access to the Sorbonne Center building due to security concerns, our conferences went ahead, thanks to the determination and resourcefulness of students like our dear Eva Benichou, who successfully led the “All Influencers” conference on Tuesday, April 8, part of the Tuesdays of Innovation series hosted by Sorbonne Innovation Technologies (SIT). In total, six conferences were held during this two-week period.

The first two sessions of the “Stories for History” project, an initiative from the IMMIL Master’s program, also took place. This series features interviews with luxury industry figures, conducted by journalist Jérôme Gautier. The first two guests were Victoria de Castellane and Paolo Roversi, on April 7 and 14, respectively.

Looking ahead...

While the Easter holidays limit the number of events, three conferences stand out:

  • Monday, April 14 – A new edition of Stories for History by the IMMIL Master’s program. Journalist Jérôme Gautier will interview fashion photographer Paolo Roversi at 7:30 PM in Amphi Lefebvre, Sorbonne Center. Register here

  • Tuesday, April 15 – Conference hosted by Sorbonne Innovation Technologies titled “Future 2050 – What Foresight for Tomorrow’s Society?”, featuring a panel of experts. 6:30 PM in Amphi Bachelard, Sorbonne Center. Register here

  • Wednesday, April 16 – The MS2IE Master’s program will host the conference “The Environmental Footprint of Aviation: A Global Issue” with Valérie Guenon, Environmental Policy Director at Sacran Aircraft Engines. 6:30 PM, Room D617, Sorbonne Center. Register here

  • Tuesday, April 22 – Another Tuesdays of Innovation session by SIT: “Generative AI: Cognitive Revolution or Technological Mirage?” at 6:30 PM in Amphi Bachelard, Sorbonne Center. Register here

Gap Year Applications

Applications for gap year periods are open from April 9 to April 23, 2025.

If you're having trouble accessing the platform or encountering inactive links, make sure you’ve created an eCandidat account. Simply accessing the training offer via the ENT, even when logged in, won’t work. You need to log out of ENT, open eCandidat, and create a new account.

If problems persist, you can contact technical support at 01 89 68 49 49 (Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, no break) or email assistance-candidature@univ-paris1.fr. They're generally very responsive.

Wishing you an excellent week!
