FEA-USP and EMS Sign Agreement to Offer a Master’s Program in Innovation Management to FEA Students
The program will allow students to take courses taught by French professors in São Paulo and earn a double degree
The School of Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, and Actuarial Science at the University of São Paulo (FEA-USP) has signed a partnership with the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris 1) that will enable students from its four programs (Management, Actuarial Science, Accounting, and Economics) to obtain a Master in Management of Innovation degree awarded by the French institution.
The entire program will take place in São Paulo, with courses taught in English by professors from the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
The agreement was signed in Madrid, Spain, on October 23, during a summit of the international alliance Una Europa, of which both the Sorbonne and USP are members. The signing ceremony brought together Paris 1 President Christine Leduc, FEA Director Maria Dolores Montoya Diaz, and USP Rector Carlos Gilberto Carlotti Junior. The program is the result of more than two years of joint work between the two institutions, coordinated directly by the FEA Director and the Director of the Sorbonne School of Management, Florent Pratlong.
Next steps include defining the academic calendar and publishing the call for applications, which will soon be made available to students. The program is set to begin next year. Sixty participants will be selected to take part in eight thematic modules focused on management and innovation. In addition to the courses, the program will feature seminars and events with the participation of French companies and professionals in São Paulo.
“The goal is to train professionals with a global perspective, capable of leading innovation processes sustainably,” says Maria Dolores. “Upon completion, participants will be prepared to act as responsible leaders across different sectors, mastering innovative project management methodologies, team leadership, change strategies, and the challenges of global business environments.”
Among the subjects taught by Sorbonne professors are Innovation Culture: Best Practices in Europe and Worldwide, Entrepreneurship and Business Creation, and Innovation Marketing and Brand Strategy in the Digital Era. All these subjects will be integrated into the FEA students’ curriculum without extending their study duration.
According to the rector, this partnership strengthens the historical ties between USP and the Sorbonne and expands opportunities for international cooperation. “Earning both the FEA-USP degree and the Sorbonne Master’s, along with direct interaction with French companies, opens doors for our students and enhances their employability. This initiative reinforces the concept of ‘internationalization at home,’ in which we’ve heavily invested in recent years. USP is a large university, and it’s impossible to send thousands of students abroad. Programs like this allow our students to gain international experience, with foreign professors and English-taught courses, in a much more accessible way, without travel costs.”
